Product Description

Cope Psychiatry in Charlotte, North Carolina logo

Mecklenburg County, North Carolina, reports that suicide is “the seventh leading cause of death among all age groups.” Consequently, there is a need to treat depression and related conditions that are resistant to traditional therapies. The Cope Psychiatry Charlotte clinic is in place to provide such treatments. Supported by the Centers of Psychiatric Excellence, the Charlotte clinical team offers hope to those dealing with depression, anxiety, or chronic pain that has thus far proven difficult to treat. In the welcoming environment of the clinic, clients will find alternative treatment, flexible scheduling, and competitive pricing for ketamine therapy.

Leading the Cope Psychiatry Charlotte clinic is Dr. Kurian Abraham, a published and award-winning resident and researcher. Dr. Abraham is deeply involved in leading-edge clinical trials, and brings this knowledge of medicines and protocols to the practice at the Charlotte clinic. Drs. Prakash Masand, Ashwin Patkar, and Steven Szabo originally founded the Centers of Psychiatric Excellence, and while predominantly focused on treatment resistant conditions, the organization, and their Charlotte clinic, are also concerned with individuals who may not reported their conditions, perhaps due to lack of access or funds. In the struggle to bring relief to thousands of people, the Charlotte Cope Psychiatry clinic offers a cutting edge alternative.

Your Treatment: What to Expect at Cope Psychiatry Charlotte

For 2 – 4 weeks, ketamine infusions will take place 3 times per week. Maintenance treatments are subsequently scheduled for six (6) months afterward. Determination of the suitability of ketamine therapy for each patient occurs at an initial mental and physical health screening. This will determine the suitability of ketamine therapy for each patient, in addition to providing information on the procedure and effects of the therapy. Ketamine therapy is undertaken in a private space at the clinic where various refreshments and entertainments are made available to the client. During treatment, patients may feel very relaxed, or may have mild hallucinations, but are constantly monitored by expert staff. A one hour observation period post-infusion allows clinic staff to make sure clients are recovering properly.

Who is this treatment for?

Reportedly, in 2015, 15% of high school students in North Carolina made a plan at some point to commit suicide. The Cope Psychiatry Charlotte clinic offers treatments to those who are feeling overwhelmed by external commitments and/or by conditions that have thus far proven resistant to mainstream therapies. Ketamine therapy is also appropriate as a supplement to mainstream psychiatric or physical therapies. Although each client will have unique reactions to ketamine therapy, some report positive results only hours after initial infusions.
